Class 5, Assignment 5

Here are some of the responses to the Photoshop blogs... I've never heard that statistic before about the 8% lighter in the 1980's to the 23% lighter weight now. That’s crazy to think about...I completely agree that magazines and advertisement has changed the way people think about themselves. Attaining a certain weight as opposed to being healthy are two different things, but many cannot distinguish the difference. Teenage girls are becoming more obsessed with being the most skinny, or the most beautiful, and the way that media spreads these days doesn't make that job an easier to prevent. As people and young adults, it's easy to be critical of ourselves because of the media that we grew up with. People will always have that natural instinct to want to be skinny and perfect, but I think because of programs such as Photoshop we have an even bigger desire to be that. Well said! People rely on Photoshop so much to fix this and that. I feel like celebrities should be the ones who take stand against the alteration of themselves. If they see themselves as role models to young adults, then they should understand what Photoshop does to the minds of their fans. Perfection can't just come with a wipe of a magic brush tool, or an eraser. It's true, so many people want to look like the Photo shopped people, but in many cases, so do the celebrities that are being Photo shopped!
